At Rocky Railway, kids discover through life’s ups and downs that Jesus’ power pulls us through. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs*, play teamwork-building games*, engage in fun snack-eating experiences, take part in one-of-a-kind Bible Adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them to trust Jesus, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with the Rock Wrap-Up that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned.
*NOTE: Due to the continuing pandemic, the activities of VBS may need to be modified to provide for adequte safety controls and practices, and may include smaller group sizes, mask wearing, no singing, less indoor movement, and more time outside. Modifications and safety procedures will be communicated prior to the start of VBS.
We are discerning whether and how to offer VBS (Vacation Bible School) this year (summer 2021), and your input would be very helpful! Please share your thoughts by completing the survey below.
Deadline: 12noon February 17, 2021 (Ash Wednesday)
VBS is a week-long, half-day experience for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade, held on the campus of St. Richard's Church in Richfield. Through this ministry, we teach age-appropriate Catholic principles and scripture through fun, multisensory activities and faith-filled learning. The children rotate through daily stations which include drama, arts and crafts, snacks, games, and music that all relate to the week's theme.
Children do not need to be registered members of St. Richard; in fact, parishioner children are welcome to invite their friends to join the fun!
Note: English will be spoken, and communications to parents will primarily be via email and in English.
YOUTH & ADULT VOLUNTEERS WOULD BE NEEDED!
This ministry requires many youth volunteers (entering grades 6 and older) and adult volunteers to assist as Crew Leaders, Station Leaders, decorators and set-builders, set-up and tear-down crews, music and drama leaders, snack coordinators, and arts and crafts leaders. What a fun way to serve some of the littlest in our parish! Orientation and Safe Environment Training and certification prior to the start of VBS is provided and required.
