Preparing to Implement the New Roman Missal
On November 27, 2011—the first Sunday of Advent—Catholic parishes in the United States will begin using the third edition of the
Roman Missal. When the liturgy was reformed as a result of the working of the Holy Spirit during the Second Vatican Council, the revised Missal of
1969 appeared with little, and often no, catechesis or preparation.
We are blessed to have this time to come together as a parish community to not only look more closely at this new translation of the Roman
Missal, but to also come to know better the words, actions, and meaning of our Eucharistic celebration.
It is our hope that our parish family will gather for the events we are planning here at Saint Richard so that we can grow in faith, hope, and
love together. Many events are being planning throughout the archdiocese as well. We have listed here links to online resources of the documents
that guide our liturgical celebrations as well as to online presentations by national leaders as well as familiar faces to the Saint
Richard’s community.
Parish Events
Lord, Teach Us To Pray
: every Sunday at Mass a segment from Lord, Teach Us To Pray (a video series developed by Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden
Prairie) will be shown. Discussion questions follow during coffee hour after the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses.
Journey Through The Mass: Saturdays, 4:15-4:45pm (community room) and Sundays, 10:15-10:45am (chapel). These 30-minute sessions
examine the many parts, rituals, words, and actions of the Mass. Attendance at all sessions is not required—come as you are able.
These sessions will continue throughout the program year.
