Because Good Friday marks Jesus’ Passion and Death, there is no Mass, however, we will have two liturgical celebrations. At 3:00pm we will have a traditional liturgy commemorating the Lord’s Passion, including the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross and an opportunity to receive the Eucharist (consecrated the previous day).
As is traditional, the offertory collection will help the Franciscans in the Holy Land support pastoral needs, schools, orphanages, health care, food and of course, the many shrines connected with the life of Jesus. Wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians in the Middle East.
This year, in response to the U.S. Bishops’ call to solidarity with suffering refugees and persecuted peoples, including Christians in the countries of the Holy Land, donations that exceed previous archdiocesan Holy Land collection totals will go directly to support the humanitarian needs of our brothers and sisters in the Archdiocese of Damascus, Syria. Please be as generous as you are able, they need your help.
At 7:30pm we will have a special
with Veneration of the Cross of Christ.
